The head of the Attorney General's Office (FGR), Alejandro Gertz Manero, declared at the morning conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo that the discovery of extermination sites and clandestine crematories in Jalisco will be investigated.
Gertz pointed out that this finding should lead to a reflection on the importance of controlling common crimes. He emphasized that before the FGR takes over the case, a thorough investigation will be carried out to understand the history behind these places. He stated that it is incredible that local authorities were unaware of such a situation.
He stressed that this case represents an opportunity to address the responsibility of local authorities to control common crimes, a theme that he mentioned has been promoted by the governor since the beginning of her administration. Gertz indicated that the goal is to determine responsibilities regarding these graves and to generate a detailed report in a short time, once the investigations are concluded.
On the other hand, the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office reported that the process of new evidence at the Izaguirre ranch in Teuchitlán is being directly supervised by the state prosecutor, Salvador González de los Santos. The review is being conducted to determine whether the appropriate procedures were followed during the previous intervention, following the recent discovery of clandestine ovens by a search collective.
The Izaguirre ranch was the scene of an operation in September 2024, where ten people were arrested, two were rescued, and one lifeless body was found. With new bone fragments recently discovered, the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office committed to conducting a legal, professional, and thorough investigation to provide certainty to the affected families in the state.
