National Action Party deputies presented an initiative to reform the Penal Code with the aim of preventing the statute of limitations for sexual crimes committed against minors. This action arises following the complaint of two gymnasts about alleged abuses by their coach, which has shocked the nation.

Deputies Itzel Castillo, Claudia Caballero, Myrna Grimaldo, and Aile Tamez expressed their concern over these events and highlighted the importance of taking measures to ensure the protection of minors in the sports arena. In this regard, there is an emphasis on the need to implement investigations and audits in gyms, as well as the creation of a state registry of sexual offenders.

Additionally, the importance of establishing effective safety protocols and strengthening support for victims of sexual crimes, especially when it comes to children, is emphasized. The deputies stressed the importance of providing adequate support to victims, both in legal and psychological terms, to prevent their re-victimization.

Furthermore, parents are called upon to be attentive to their children's sports activities and to trust in the protection of the relevant authorities. The proposed reform to Article 70 of the Penal Code aims to guarantee that minors have the right to report without the crime being subject to statute of limitations.

In this context, the National Action Party demands concrete actions from the competent authorities, such as the immediate cessation and exemplary sanctions for both the accused and those who cover up these crimes. The importance of working together to protect children participating in sports in Nuevo León and ensuring a safe environment for their development is highlighted.
