According to the portal SDP Noticias and the media La Lista, Elena Chávez has also ventured into politics as a constituent deputy for the PRD in 2016. Her work as an activist in defense of animal and human rights, through the organization Ángeles Abandonados, is noteworthy.
In a recent tweet, Elena Chávez revealed that Marina del Pilar Ávila, governor of Baja California, has been included in a blacklist by the United States for alleged ties to drug trafficking, especially with a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. So far, the alleged list of Mexican public officials implicated with criminal organizations, cited by the journalist, has not been revealed.
