PRI Leader Says Party is Consistent, Morena Government Has Failed Mexico

PRI leader Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas accused the MORENA government of failing the Mexican people and stated the party is ready to compete both alone and in coalitions. He also promoted Adrián de la Garza as a gubernatorial candidate and distanced himself from MORENA.

PRI Leader Says Party is Consistent, Morena Government Has Failed Mexico

The leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) stated that the PRI is consistent, and the MORENA government has failed the people of Mexico. 'We always do everything possible to strengthen coalitions, some of them are here to stay. Even the drug traffickers and the corrupt from MORENA build coalitions... We are ready to compete alone. In Veracruz, we did not go with the National Action Party (PAN), we won 23 out of 18 municipalities. In Durango, we were with the PAN, we won 16 municipalities and the majority in Congress. In the PRI, we have many prominent figures, we have important leadership that Adrián de la Garza has earned, he has been a competitive candidate. Adrián is a public official who has the support of the PRI militants and also thousands of citizens... He has great political strength with the PRI, but a politician must bring everyone together, govern for everyone... We are going to make the effort to build a great coalition,' declared the PRI leader. At the meeting, topics such as support from Nuevo León for the intermediate elections in Coahuila, similar to Manolo Jiménez's campaign, were also discussed. De la Garza was reaffirmed as the state project, and closeness with actors with whom he was not on good terms, such as Francisco Cienfuegos, was shown. 'The PRI has a clear path, which is to work with the municipalities. The PRI's caucus has been firm with a budget that includes everything. Serious and responsible is a strong and powerful coalition, the rest is doing the dirty work for MORENA,' he added. Finally, regarding the conclave with all the actors of the PRI in Nuevo León, he emphasized that the party is closing ranks for the pre-election year and praised the figure of De la Garza for the upcoming governorship. 'In Nuevo León, we have been good allies and we must work together, we have their respect, because when they govern, they do it well,' declared Moreno Cárdenas. After the national leader of MORENA, Luisa Alcalde, set the agenda in Nuevo León due to budgetary conditions, her counterpart from the PRI, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, did the same: he held a private meeting with all the PRI members in the state and pushed Adrián de la Garza as his strongest candidate. At a press conference, he prioritized distancing himself from MORENA, even though local agreements had been made with the 4T to advance the 2026 Budget. 'In the PRI, we do not trust, I recognize the daily work, we are closing ranks. Also, what are they going to do in the state of Chihuahua, it would not be very intelligent for there to be a PRI candidate, another from the PAN, and another from MC, because MORENA will win. We have a new pact, we are ready, all proposals will coincide in the end, but what we have presented as PRI members is a responsible and citizen budget,' he added. Regarding alliances, he was questioned about the continuity of a coalition with the PAN and 'Alito' considered that it will be the most suitable to face MORENA, although, due to his distance from the PAN's CEN and Jorge Romero, he delivered a subtle blow to the intermediate elections in Coahuila. 'If we do not go in coalition, the PAN will lose it, if that is what the PAN wants, then let them eat their own bread. We have no political agreement with MORENA, there are coincidences in objectives... But no political agreement, but if there is a coincidence in a vote, it will have to be proven with votes because from saying to doing there is a long way to go.' It should be remembered that his candidacy has been disputed by the PRI and PAN despite his historical tricolor sympathy. 'But I will tell you the PAN's mistake, we are going alone in Coahuila and we are going to win 16-0, then they will ask the PAN members of Coahuila if they agree. He assures that it is only about coinciding in objectives in the entity. 'We invented social programs, we always vote in favor of social programs.'
