'The 2016 reform placed public officials on equal terms with the law as any citizen, closing one of the main channels through which corruption had been filtering into the governmental sphere for years,' the Morenista concluded. In this regard, Ramírez Cuéllar pointed out that this case confirms the need to eliminate immunity throughout the country. 'For decades, immunity has been a legal excuse for corruption. There cannot be a single official who hides behind their position to evade justice,' he affirmed. Ramírez Cuéllar: 'Build a great unity for the growth of the national economy.'
