Collective Refutes Prosecutor's Version of Mass Killings in Mexico

The collective 'Searchers of Jalisco Warriors' refuted the version of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) regarding the Izaguirre Ranch in Teuchitlán, and reiterated that on that property there were murders and processes of human remains incineration, not just training activities as the authorities claim. In a statement released on social media, marking one year since the property's discovery, the searching families stated that the official explanation leaves out elements that, they claim, are documented within the ministry's own investigation. To reduce what happened in that place solely to a training or forced recruitment center is to ignore a fundamental part of what actually happened there. The Attorney General's Office had previously insisted, in a statement, that its investigations had 'clearly and conclusively' determined that the site was used as a training ground. It reiterated that practices such as shooting, physical conditioning, and tactical simulations were carried out there, in addition to forced recruitment of people. However, it mentioned that despite finding bone remains, clothing, and other evidence, after a year, it has made 64.44% progress in processing the site. The families also questioned the progress reported by the Attorney General's Office in processing the property and emphasized that this percentage corresponds only to work done on the surface. Since last July, the deep processing of the site has been halted, leaving fundamental areas for truth pending. However, the collective maintained that within the statements given to the Attorney General's Office, there are testimonies referring to systematic homicides committed in that place. There was violence, there was pain, and there was death in that place. We are not looking for political benefits. What we carry every day is the pain of not knowing where our children, our daughters, our brothers, and our parents are,» they expressed. The collective also called on the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, to listen to the searching families. 'Madam President, open your heart, listen to the mothers, the fathers, and the families who continue to search. 'One year after these events, the least Mexico deserves is the complete truth. The truth cannot be buried,' they concluded. Many people lost their lives in that place. They also indicated that within the investigations there are records describing processes of human remains incineration using materials and chemicals that allowed the fire to remain active at high temperatures. 'To this are added technical analyses and scientific studies related to thermal processes and degradation at high temperatures, which allow us to understand that conditions compatible with intense incineration processes were reached,' they stated. The collective also recalled that when the authorities entered the site, the discovery of a body and the use of firearms exclusive to the Army was documented, which they said evidences the level of violence experienced at the site. In their position, the families insisted that their work does not respond to political interests, but to the search for their missing relatives. 'The searching families are not here for protagonism.'
