Following Oseguera's death, the CJNG responded with violent actions such as burning businesses and blocking roads in 20 of the country's 32 states. 'Drugs, weapons, and a vehicle were seized from the detainee,' detailed the Defense Department's communiqué. Mexican soldiers captured a suspected drug trafficker who was key to launching the operation that cost the life of Mexican drug lord Rubén Nemesio Oseguera, alias 'El Mencho,' the Defense Secretariat reported on Sunday. The detainee is José 'N,' nicknamed 'El Pepe,' who was in charge of transporting the powerful capo's partner to a luxurious cabin in the municipality of Tapalpa, in the state of Jalisco (west), according to a brief Defense communiqué, reported by the site DW and learned by the Argentine News Agency. Oseguera, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), died on February 22 after being injured in an operation by federal forces at an exclusive country club where he had been seen with a woman he was in a relationship with. According to authorities following the operation, military intelligence services discovered that the woman would meet with Oseguera, thus locating him. 'El Pepe' is pointed to as one of the CJNG leader's trusted men, for whom the United States offered 15 million dollars.
