The former Querétaro ombudsman, Miguel Nava Alvarado, announced that he will seek the governorship candidacy with the National Action Party (PAN). He intends to test the party's openness to citizens, as he has reproached that for years, political parties have "kidnapped" candidacies following a constitutional reform in 2012.
Similarly, he mentioned that with his registration, he will verify if equity conditions will be guaranteed in the internal contest, as there are profiles of militants who have been working towards this goal from public offices for several months, such as Luis Nava, Agustín Dorantes, and Felipe Fernando Macías.
"We will see if they can accept a citizen who wants to register, see the process so that I can get to know their militancy and also go up to the debate with these PAN aspirants, so that the militancy and citizenship can say who has the best cards to present in terms of political offer, academic and professional trajectory without deceiving them."
He stressed that just as there is a kidnapping of candidacies, there is also a kidnapping of democracy, for which he called on more citizens to join these registrations, although he sentenced that if there is simulation, it will be denounced.
He recalled that he also competed in the 2021 process with the Progressive Social Networks party, where his participation was also citizen, but in this context, he recognized that PAN issued an open call to citizenship to improve the living conditions of the population, particularly in issues such as education, rule of law, public health, legality, and security.
"We will ask for a level playing field, because undoubtedly, when they have public resources, outside of the campaign, to make tours throughout the state, the only option citizens know are the same faces they are presenting, but what will happen when there is a level playing field, that it is not a simulation, and there are true citizen proposals?"
Finally, he said he is awaiting the position of those who are already in the race for the governorship and if there will be a competition with equity.
