Xóchitl Gálvez Criticizes Authoritarian Reform in Mexico

The former presidential candidate Xóchitl Gálvez criticized the reform proposed by Morena to prevent constitutional amendments from being reviewed by the Judiciary, calling it absurd and authoritarian. In a video message, the PAN politician expressed her disagreement, mentioning that the modification eliminates some paragraphs of the original proposal by Adán Augusto López Hernández, which sought to broaden the protection of human rights, including international treaties.

Gálvez held President Claudia Sheinbaum responsible for this proposal, pointing out that it shows an authoritarian character from the Executive Branch. In her criticism, she compared it to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stating that even he had not dared so much in his decisions. The PAN politician believes that the reform in question seeks to deceive the people with changes in legislation that could have a negative impact on the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.
