Claudia Sheinbaum Launches National Security Platform

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is preparing an information platform on security to monitor crimes in the country through the implementation of a National Information, Intelligence, and Investigation System. After the approval of Article 21 of the Constitution in the Committees of the Chamber of Deputies, it will be subsequently sent to the Plenary. During the Morning Briefing for the People on this Tuesday, November 12, from the National Palace, Sheinbaum announced the intention to send several secondary laws.

In her statements, the national leader explained that any information platform must have reliable sources, so it is expected that the Attorney Generals and other entities will provide the required information through legal reforms. This information will be shared with the Security Cabinet to evaluate the strategy and responsibilities daily, establishing constant communication with the states to advance in intelligence and investigation issues.

Sheinbaum emphasized the need to strengthen coordination with the governors of each state on security issues. Although many previous governors argued that it was not their responsibility but that of the Federation, the president highlighted the importance of coordination and strengthening the capabilities of state and municipal police forces.

Regarding the sources of information, the secretariat of the National Information, Intelligence, and Investigation System will be based on reports from state Attorneys General, where data such as the number of homicides and vehicle thefts are recorded. Additionally, Sheinbaum mentioned that secondary laws are being prepared to strengthen the National Information, Intelligence, and Investigation System, under the leadership of the Attorney General of the Republic and the state Attorneys General.

Finally, the president highlighted that the platform is being developed by the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency of José Merino, following the model implemented in Mexico City during her tenure as Head of Government. Although it has not been specified whether the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System will disappear, it is expected that the platform will be strengthened as more information is collected.
