Monterrey Weather Forecast and Pollution Alert

The temperature in Monterrey for this week will vary between 11 and 27 degrees for minimum and maximum respectively. For Wednesday, a minimum temperature of 16 degrees and a maximum of 28 is expected. Meanwhile, Thursday and Friday will have a maximum of 31 degrees and a minimum of 15. During the weekend, clear skies are expected with temperatures ranging between 16 and 32 degrees on Saturday, and on Sunday, Super Tazón day, a minimum of 13 and a maximum of 29 degrees is expected.

Regarding air quality, despite it being a holiday on Monday, several environmental monitoring stations reported red levels, indicating a high concentration of pollutants. Localities such as San Nicolás de los Garza, Escobedo, Santa Catarina, and the Unidad Modelo station of the Integrated Environmental Monitoring System (SIMA) showed worrying levels at 07:00 hours.

These red levels mean a concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 particles above the recommended levels, representing health risks for the population. Municipalities such as Juárez, Guadalupe, Cadereyta, García, and Apodaca showed acceptable levels, while Monterrey, San Pedro, and Estación Mederos were in green indicating good air conditions.

The cities most affected by pollution tend to be the most industrialized, such as Escobedo and San Nicolás, where Ciudad Universitaria is located, which was inactive on Monday, contributing to a reduction in vehicular traffic in the Monterrey metropolitan area.

For February 3, a minimum temperature of 18 degrees around 06:00 hours and a maximum of 30 degrees is expected. According to The Weather Channel, the day will remain mostly clear with low chances of rain, 1%, and winds from the northeast between 11 and 15 kilometers per hour. A slight decrease in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, remaining in pleasant ranges.
