Gordita Fair 2026 in Puebla

The Gordita Fair 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most important gastronomic events in Puebla, paying homage to one of the state's most representative antojitos and consolidating itself as an unmissable tradition for locals and tourists. In this edition, the preparation of over 500 thousand gorditas and memelas is expected, available from 08:00 to 18:00 hours. The preparation will be in charge of more than 100 traditional cooks, who will use approximately eight tons of dough, four tons of criollo corn, as well as one ton of red salsa and one ton of green salsa. With just 25 pesos in their pocket, Puebla residents can eat two free gorditas when they purchase a soft drink at the event's stalls. The funds raised during the event will be destined for the maintenance of the community church, a historical building dating from the 17th century. During the inauguration of the 16th Gordita Festival, held in the auxiliary board of La Resurrección, municipal president Pepe Chedraui Budib highlighted the importance of preserving these festivities through coordinated work between the different levels of government. “The joint work between the three orders of government allows us to strengthen our traditions, as President Claudia Sheinbaum has indicated, in coordination with Governor Alejandro Armenta, to guarantee the well-being and peace in the auxiliary boards,” he expressed. In addition to its gastronomic value, this festival has an important cultural and historical background, linked to the archaeological zone of La Manzanilla, a space that for decades has been a meeting point for Puebla families seeking to get together and enjoy outdoor activities. How to get there? To attend, you can take the Puebla-Orizaba highway and detour onto the federal highway to Tehuacán.
