In recent days, I had the opportunity to meet, talk, and interview the great Mexican champion Julio César Chávez. Before a large audience, Chávez recounted his beginnings, his triumphs, and his titles in 90 undefeated fights. However, he also shared the low moments due to his addictions. Moved, he urged parents to be attentive to their children, understanding their concerns, thoughts, friendships, and hobbies.
"Today, the best Mexican boxer of all time has been clean for years, and his mission is to support those suffering from the terrible reality of a life trapped by the dark world of addictions," Chávez declared in the interview. His message highlights the importance of listening to the experiences of successful athletes, citing examples like JC, Hugo Sánchez, Lorena Ochoa, Checo Pérez, Blue Demon Jr, and Nuria Diosdado, among others.
The experiences of these sports idols can nourish and guide current generations, according to Chávez. In Querétaro, for example, the experiences of some of these outstanding athletes have been effectively utilized and channeled, achieving great success in the process.
