The Secretary of Government of the state of Querétaro, Carlos Alcaraz, communicated that an agreement has been reached with the mayors of the Metropolitan Area and San Juan del Río to implement stricter inspections in establishments such as bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. This decision was made after an armed attack at Los Cantaritos, which led to the closure of several establishments in the capital and El Marqués.
In a meeting with the mayors and members of the restaurant and commerce sector, Alcaraz detailed the measures that will be taken, including joint patrols between local police, standardized closing hours, coordinated inspection operations, and the exchange of information about the establishments, including closure history and license applications.
Alcaraz emphasized the importance of being firm with those who do not comply with the established regulations to ensure order and prevent entertainment venues from becoming shelters for illicit activities. So far, 6 establishments have been closed in the capital and 2 in El Marqués, adding to previous closures in the area.
The secretary informed that some places lacked updated licenses, civil protection measures, and operated with types of business not permitted. In addition to inspections, a joint strategy will be carried out with the mayors to reinforce security and prevention in these establishments.
During the weekend, 10 bars and nightclubs in the Metropolitan Area of Querétaro were closed for not complying with operating licenses and permits for the sale of alcoholic beverages. These actions aim to ensure that establishments operate legally and safely, maintaining order in the region.
