The Morena deputy, Homero Barrera Mcdonald, presented an initiative in the local Congress of Querétaro aimed at improving the speed of issuing resolutions on national issues. This modification to the Organic Law of the Legislative Power would involve adjustments to seven articles to expedite the approval process of federal constitutional reforms.
In the proposal put forward, Barrera indicated that the intention is not to achieve a quick approval without respecting legislative stages but to employ digital tools, such as receiving minutes by email, to accelerate timelines. The deputy explained that there are pending reforms in the local Congress, such as preventive detention, animal welfare, and administrative simplification, which require greater urgency in their analysis.
If this initiative is approved, once federal reform minutes are received, they would be sent to the relevant committee on the same day, and the Call to the Constitutional Points Commission and plenary sessions would be made with 24 hours' notice, instead of the 48 hours currently established by law. Barrera highlighted that there are reforms that will require more time for evaluation, while others of an urgent nature could be resolved more quickly.
Homero Barrera Mcdonald emphasized that with these modifications, the Congress of Querétaro would be moving toward more relevant debates centered on significant discussions about important issues for the Querétaro citizenry. The intention is to avoid delays that prevent resolutions from being issued on time, a problem that affects the effectiveness of laws and their implementation in the state.
