An act of violence interrupted a wedding at the Quinta Las Torres event hall in the La Cruz neighborhood of Salamanca, Guanajuato, in the early hours of Sunday. Witnesses reported that while guests were enjoying music from the group Despegue, a group of armed men entered the venue and began shooting without warning, causing panic among attendees.
"What was supposed to be a night of joy and unity turned into a scene of horror," mentioned some people present at the event. Three individuals lost their lives and another fifteen were injured, two of them critically. In response to the situation, an emergency operation was deployed involving local authorities, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army.
The tragic event adds to a series of violent incidents recorded in Salamanca recently. The date and time of the incident was established as Saturday, January 25, 2025, around midnight, at Quinta Las Torres. It was reported that six Red Cross ambulances arrived at the scene to attend to the victims, two of whom were taken to nearby hospitals due to their serious injuries.
Investigations into this attack have been initiated by local authorities in order to clarify the motives behind this act of violence. Although the motive has not yet been confirmed, it is suspected to be a direct attack against one of the guests at the wedding.
