Detention of Students Involved in School Shooting

Two students from the Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades (CCH) Naucalpan were presented before the Public Ministry of the State of Mexico for firing a weapon inside this school of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on February 28.

In the legal proceedings conducted in the Control Courts of Tlalnepantla, it was determined to link Mario "N" aged 20 and Asher Gabriel "N" aged 18 to the legal process. The youths were charged with the crimes of firearm discharge and dangerous attack after the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) established their probable participation in the events, where they also threw and detonated two firecrackers.

According to reports, the students were placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority at the Juan Fernández Albarán Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center in Tlalnepantla. Additionally, a month was set for the closure of the supplementary investigation and the precautionary measure of justified preventive imprisonment.

Regarding the detainees, it was also mentioned that a 17-year-old adolescent was apprehended within the framework of this case. The young man received conditional release as the crime committed did not warrant his detention. It is important to remember that the principle of presumption of innocence applies to the detainees until there is a condemnatory sentence against them.
