Paquita la del Barrio passed away on Monday, February 17, at the age of 77. The news was confirmed by her nephew and manager Francisco Torres, who revealed that the singer suffered a heart attack. The news was shared through the official Instagram account of the artist, asking for privacy for the family.
In an interview with the morning program 'Sale el sol,' Paquito shared details about his aunt's passing. According to him, Paquita died in her bed in Veracruz. Although he had spoken with her the day before, Paquito mentioned that Paquita did not show signs of anticipating her death, as she avoided discussing that topic and even asked not to be left flowers in her dressing room.
The singer's nephew mentioned that Paquita ate normally the day before, but the next morning she did not wake up and was found pale, which led them to call an ambulance. Unfortunately, they confirmed that she had passed away due to a heart attack.
Paquito revealed that Paquita la del Barrio lived with her sister Viola and was going through a period of depression due to mobility issues that prevented her from walking. He informed that the singer's remains will be cremated and transported to Mexico City, where friends and family will give her a final goodbye, as well as a tribute at her restaurant.
Despite this, no date has been set for the official farewell.
