The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) carried out the seizure of two shipments of marijuana at the Veracruz Customs, which were hidden in pallets used to transport rolls of fabric and had a total weight of four tons. According to official information, the drugs were destined for the Dominican Republic, with more than 3.3 tons intercepted in the first instance, followed by an additional 750 kilograms of the narcotic, totaling the four tons retained at the port facility during the month.
The marijuana findings at the Veracruz Port Facility occurred on November 12 and on the 7th of the same month, as a result of investigative work and follow-up. In both cases, the illicit substance was found hidden in pallets that simulated transporting rolls of nylon industrial fabric, requiring the intervention of canine units to detect the drug shipments. After the alert in both situations, inspection and opening of several wooden pallets that appeared to contain fabric proceeded, revealing rolls of marijuana instead of synthetic material.
On the other hand, the Mexican Navy authorities discovered and dismantled a clandestine laboratory in the municipality of Cosalá, Sinaloa, where 350 liters of liquid drug used in the manufacture of pills were seized, along with a thousand liters of chemical precursors. This finding represents a significant blow against drug trafficking and contributes to national security from the Mexican ports and coasts, by preventing this narcotic from reaching society.
