During the second quarter of the year, it is expected that 30 percent of companies in the Northeastern region of the country will increase their hiring, according to Fernando Bermúdez, director of institutional relations at ManpowerGroup. Although this figure represents the lowest level in recent quarters, placing the region in fourth place nationally, Bermúdez believes this trend is positive.
"A 30 percent hiring intention is not bad. Although the region used to lead these expectations nationally, now other regions have surged more," commented Bermúdez. He highlighted that the percentage in the region is close to the national average of 33 percent, and mentioned the growth of investments in infrastructure and industrial parks in Nuevo León as examples of economic dynamism in the region.
Nationwide, 46 percent of companies plan to hire more staff, while 13 percent expect to reduce their employees. Bermúdez emphasized that the hiring outlook is positive, but with moderate growth by sectors. The transportation, logistics, and automotive sectors are expected to be among the most active in hiring, followed by companies in life sciences and health, finance and real estate, and services and consumer goods.
Regarding the employment growth forecast at the national level for the second quarter, the creation of up to 90,000 jobs is estimated. Bermúdez compared the employment projections between ManpowerGroup and the Bank of Mexico, noting that the banking institution has revised its figures downwards, while they remain conservative in their estimates, considering the current economic outlook.
