Mexico's Supreme Court Concludes Grupo Salinas Tax Appeal Review

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) concluded the review of appeals filed by companies belonging to Grupo Salinas regarding various tax credits. According to a statement issued this Thursday by Minister Lenia Batres, the high court declared appeals 596/2025 and 594/2025 inadmissible, as the main cases that originated these challenges had already been definitively resolved. With these decisions, a cycle of ninety-three legal proceedings comes to an end, including amparo suits, appeals, recusal motions, and jurisdictional conflicts. According to Batres, these actions were promoted by the business conglomerate to avoid and delay the payment of taxes amounting to a total of 49,039,858,410 pesos. Despite the conclusion of the cases related to tax credits, the minister specified that there is still a pending judicial process. This is an amparo suit related to the powers of the Financial Intelligence Unit to obtain information from the bank accounts of Ricardo Salinas Pliego.
